Telos Timeline

We thought for those that might be interested we would provide a high level timeline that outlines how this solution went from God inspired idea to reality.

Beginning – Oct 2008 – Scott T. Rauth takes a book study class on Chip Ingram’s Good to Great in God’s Eyes.  While discussing Chapter 5 about Dream Great Dreams God shares with Scott that His purpose for Scott’s life is to help every orphan find a good home for every orphan using technology.

Uganda calling – May 2009 – Scott attends a luncheon meeting where a Bishop from the Church of Uganda speaks about his country and current challenges.  The Holy Spirit clearly indicates he should visit Uganda.  Within one week there are six separate confirmations of this calling.

Uganda trip – Feb 2010 – Scott goes to Uganda with a couple that along with their church are assisting over 500 orphans in Moroto, Uganda.  During this 16 day trip Scott is tasked with identifying some of the children being cared for and their stories.  While only using a simple Excel spreadsheet to capture basic demographic info, the Lord puts on Scott’s heart that transperancy and acountability for local church partners is very important for any organization wanting to help orphans.

First CAFO Summit – May 2010 – Scott attends his firs Christian Alliance for Orphans annual conference.  He spends most of his time looking for a software solution to addres the challenges he observed while being in Uganda just a few months earlier.  Despite his best efforts, no one knows of such a solution.  While searching in earnest, God tells him it doesn’t exist and he needs to build one.  Scott has never developed a software solution before and knows he will need God’s help to make this happen.

God’s Team – July 2010 – While in a quiet time, God gives Scott five names and roles for the initial Telos team.  Scott writes these down and while he knows everyone on the team, some he barely knows and has no idea if they have any interest in helping orphans with their considerable technical talents.

Inspired Luncheons – August 2010 – Scott meets with every person that God has indicated should be on the team.  Through the intercession of the Holy Spirit all agree to help build this solution.  Jim Ingram, who is our software architect is a remarkably busy person who is critical to our success, but literally was going to tell Scott he didn’t have time, but after a short talk with God agrees to serve.

Where to start? – Sept – Dec 2010 – Scott starts detailed discovery of orphan care needs by working with Rebecca Walsh of the HALO Foundation.  Through this work a detailed child profile and how to connect donors to the kids they sponsor or just wants to help starts to crystallize.

Software LifecycleDevelopment Begins – January 2011 – The original team of Jim Ingram, John Ross, Vince Robertson and Brian James begins to meet monthly to determine how they will solve the many challenges facing those who serve the fatherless.

A divine appointment – February 2011 – Scott meets with Adrien Lewis and Trace Thurlby from the Global Orphan Project.  Scott shares the dreams of the Telos team.  Adrien has an extensive background in Microsoft Dynamics CRM and knows what is possible with this enterprise level solution.  The genesis of collaboration and cooperation are born.
